Birth Preparation

It’s difficult to plan for birth, but we can certainly educate ourselves regarding our options and preferences. Preparing for birth is often more than getting all the gear, eating right and exercising or going to the doctors appointments. It is also about preparing our mind and body for a birth that we feel confident and secure about.

Birth Partner Preparation

As the birth partner you play such an integral role throughout the birth process. Not only do you provide all the emotional support that can help with the progression of the labour, but you are the birther’s advocate too. This session is tailored specifically for the birth partner, providing them with all the tips and tricks to best support the birther through their journey.

Topics discussed include: informed choice and advocacy, what to say and when to encourage the birther, comfort measures and positions for labour, when to go to the birthing centre, what to expect during labour and how you can best support yourself and your partner during the postpartum period.

Postpartum Planning

We often prepare so much for our birth that we forget to plan for when our little one comes home with us. In this session we will develop a plan for your postpartum period that will provide a good foundation of support for this important time of transition and healing.

Includes:

  • Postpartum Planning Workbook

  • 2 hour session

  • email support from birth until 1 month postpartum

  • text and phone support from birth to baby’s second week

Prenatal Lactation Education

If you want to breastfeed/chest feed your baby but feel you need more information, these sessions will help you learn the basics, before your baby gets home.

Topics include:

  • skin to skin

  • positions

  • learn all about latching and drinking

  • nibbling vs drinking

  • the first 72 hours

  • feeding cues

  • achieving a milk supply

  • is my baby getting enough

  • learn about breast/chest health and care

  • physiology of breastfeeding/chest feeding

  • when to seek support

  • how to prevent and trouble shoot for any potential issues

$200 includes 1 2hr session

Postpartum Breastfeeding/Chestfeeding Support

Do you have questions about positioning, or wondering whether baby is getting enough milk? If you’d like to learn about your baby's feeding cues or just need some reassurance and support, then a book a session with me.

This session is in person.

$75 for 2 hour session

Newborn Care Class

Bringing home your first baby is exciting and a little overwhelming too. With a little bit of guidance and knowledge about how a newborn communicates, sleeps, regulates and feeds, you will be able to care for your little one with confidence.

Topics Include:

  • newborn sleep education

  • tips on comforting your baby

  • feeding cues

  • diapering and swaddling

  • baby development in the first few weeks

  • baby care: baby acne, cradle cap, umbilical cord, spitting up

  • bathing your baby

  • managing your expectations postpartum
